My world was shaken last summer when Joe Frank, a very creative inventor whom I greatly admired, passed away after a long struggle with cancer. I worked with Joe for over twenty years. There are many posts in the midrange archives that give light to his genius. Subsequently his company, Synapse, closed their doors and it looked like the end of a great bunch of software products that many in the midrange world have grown to like and become (happily) dependent on. Through various incarnations Joe's products surfaced first as SSI, then Emerald, Andrew, Nlynx, and finally as Synapse. His products were also sold under private label agreement (OEM) as Netsoft, Attachmate, DCA, Blue Lynx, Fraser's Hill, and Connectronnix. Perhaps there are others. As of today, I am very happy to announce, we are giving the flagship software, Synapse IP Client, a new life as WinTronix IP Client. I will be working with other software engineers to maintain, support, sell, and distribute this TCP/IP based client that does display, printer, and and SQL based file transfer for iSeries users. Current users of Synapse products can contact me privately offline to learn about the way we will be able to continue support of their install base of Synapse software. After a long period of uncertainty this is good news for thousands of IP Client users. Best to all, Jerry Draper Trilobyte Software Systems www.trilosoft.com
