I just installed CUME 5207 on all of our AS/400s. Before I started I
read through SF98530 and noted that MF36693 & MF36564 had instructions
to apply them before any Group or CUME.

PTF MF35461 is listed on the CUME Install instructions as needing to be
installed before the CUME too.

That is my thought also. I was surprised that these messages (in my
case) were associated with the DB and Hiper PTFs though. This would
indicate that everyone would need to install SI17595, MF36564, & MF36693
before attempting any other PTF install, not just the Cume. The
question would be, do we NEED all of them installed before applying any
further PTFs?

-----------------------------------------------------------------
APAR for SI17595: The PTF apply process during IPL fails with
CPF3662 when a required PTF is not in the correct state. For example, a
5722SS1 PTF was not applied because a 5722999 requisite PTF was not
permanently applied.

APAR for MF36564: The symptom is that the system crashes while trying to
signon to XPF.

APAR for MF36693: There are various instances during the apply of
licensed internal code PTFs where the linkloader allows modules to
crossover into alternate spaces.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

In our production environment this makes the C5298530 (or Hiper #66)
install a two month process. It would be nice if the instructions made
more obvious which PTF or PTFs require these prereqs, so that we could
install the rest immediately.

Scott,

If you had IPLed after installing SI17595, MF36564, & MF36693 before
loading the new Cume, I think you would have found the process would
have loaded and applied like a normal cume.
