First thought right off would be the limitations of the query400 program. You can do more in embedded SQL. Query400 also requires huge overhead if it's run interactively and so would be slower. Query400 is a great tool for programmers that don't know SQL to get a view of how say a record selection over a particular table would look with a limited amount of coding.
