Agreed. But you and which other developer in the US of A actually take the time to make sure tab order is sensible and efficient, that there are keyboard shortcuts available, so that there is no need to use a mouse and depend on your eye for finding where you are? The latter especially is a reason for GUIs being so slow - you have to SEE where you are typing, whereas with character-based interfaces you can touch-type. Now having said all that, it IS possible to write a decent GUI. But again, how many do it? Even IBM does not have web designers that always position you to the user ID on a login page.
