Why wouldn't it be? The only problem I can think of is that when you IPL the iSeries those IXS cards should have been varied off first. Kind of an "all eggs in one basket" thing. If you don't like that I suppose you could stop using IXS cards and use a Linux lpar for supporting file and printer shares. But then, when you upgrade that FSP code you still lose them all.
