Older machines used to support something called an "ascii workstation controller". We actually had one at one time. Since IBM discontinued that and doesn't even support that on newer hardware I wouldn't go that route. That, and it was a PITA to sync up. For what dial in we have left we use a card that is in our Cisco router. Has 8 ports in it. Once you dial in to that and log in you have full access to your lan. You can do Windows stuff, use iSeries Access stuff, etc, just like local, but without the speed. Not sure if the iSeries, with current versions of i5/os support directly dialing in using PPP. The Cisco solution takes care of that. You could search the info center for PPP (well not today, something on it's acting up). I think at one time you could configure the old Client Access to communicate using SNA dial in to your AS/400, but iSeries Access dropped SNA. Rob Berendt
