Our corporate VPN has very strict rules. When a request for VPN connectivity is made it must list the protocols, hosts, User, applications, etc. that will be used. Example you may get TN5250 to one iSeries but not another and FTP to a Windows server but not an iSeries. As an Admin. I have almost everything open but still can't map a drive into any of my 26 iSeries partition IFS directories. Just because you can ping your host means only the route exists, nothing more. If you are looking for a very cool tool try this http://www.hamachi.cc/ . It can create a secure tunnel into almost anywhere. The 5.nnn.nnn.nnn addresses it uses are all reserved and you can use an incredibly secure password key (see https://www.grc.com/passwords for one) . -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DeLong, Eric Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 6:57 PM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: LMHOSTS file Vern, you're probably right....
