Used to be hardware on the control panel but now in firmware, hidden
from most.  Al of course will never publish the address of your serial
number.  IBM should and probably does change the location from hardware
release to hardware release.

How do you change a system's serial number?  I thought  that was an 
"indelible" part of the hardware.

Or perhaps it is one of those "I could tell ya but I'd have to kill ya" 
kind of questions.......
