You can also use the job accounting journal.  It will log some good detail
when the job ends....

Print data - files, lines, pages, etc.
Database reads, writes, and updates,
Comm data

We use ROBOT but in general is there a way to check
how long batch jobs take (took) on a regular basis? So that I can focus on
long running jobs, and see if I can find ways to shorten their time.

I have found in old code, too many READs where a CHAIN is much better.
