Guy,If your system doesn't have any additional towers beyond the system unit and this IXA you should be OK, although if this is the case I personally would disconnect the cables at the iSeries end instead.
If you do have other towers I would strongly recommend that you cable around the IXA to complete the loop. Without the loop completed another cable failure or tower failure would drop your system.
