Given that the pins on a cable such as this aren't different lengths so that for example the Ground connects first then the 'I'm Alive' pin and then the 'Power Fail' pin the answer is 'You Can't Tell'. It shouldn't react that way but I defer to my esteemed assistant iGor to explain what can (and did) happen recently :-{
