You're pretty much right.  There is a difference between Linux and AIX 
though.  With Linux you can find free database software and whatnot. 
Granted it's still a patched together system.  But for some special 
purposes that might be ok.  For example, do I need a database if I am 
moving over TSM or Domino to a Linux server?  If we moved TSM, Domino and 
the data for our numerous IXS cards off of our 570 our disk would only be 
11% utilized.
