RE: Subfile validation issues -- MIDRANGE-L

Updating the subfile. I think I actually have it "update scn01b" (sfl)  as 
opposed to "update scn01a" (sflctl) That alone might fix my issue  huh?
  
  ARGH! Somedays I wish I could be a fly on you guy's walls so I could  see how 
"real" programming is done. Right now I am the assistant  bouncing between a 
"spaghetti master" and a "real structured  programmer". Would that be a right 
brain or left brain issue? Someone  pass the happy pills!

Also, what are you updating?  A file, the subfile?  If the subfile, make
sure that you are doing an update on the SUBFILE record format name and not
the SUBFILE CONTROL record format name.

I have the loop set up to Chain, Validate, Update, Add one to sf1rrn.
Rinse, repeat til EOF.

  Only trouble is, I can't get through the first validate. Because of the
"without prior input" error.

  Subfiles...ya gotta love 'em :o)

It sounds like either the program is updating but no record was found
during the chain or it is updating with out a previous chain.

I am probably on the wrong list for this, but after attempting to chase
this down unsuccessfully in the archives:

  I have a subfile that allows a user to create a custom menu. I have to
go through the subfile line by line, chaining to each one per "office
standards", completely validating all the entries (3) and updating the
current line before moving to the next line.

  My problem is when I go to validate and update the current line of the
subfile I get "Update or Delete without prior Input" error. Where
should I start looking to resolve this issue?
