That may be what DFU does when the key is changed.

I would use SQL to insert, update and delete.  That is easy to do and you
know exactly what is happening with the database.

A "WAG" would be because, even though it IS a *after *update, since you 
changed a key it may be confused with a delete and a re-add which would 
then be two operations.  Again, that's just a WAG.
