C+            Case When :Sort = 2 then Fld3 Else NULL end,
C+            Case When :Sort = 3 then Fld4 Else NULL end,

C/End-Exec

Actually, there is a downside.  But that's been brought up several times 
before.  Performancewise, it's better to avoid building the whole 
statement in a string.  That should be reserved for those cases actually 
needing it.  Perhaps doing flexible sorting is one such example.
