And viewing requires Word, but your users can still find the documents on a network drive that maps to something in the IFS. Having said that, the IFS is not the fastest thing in the world for serving files to Windows boxes, sorry to say.
<vendor reply>FYI - we have a product that can take the results of an SQL SELECT on the iSeries and send it to a PC and do mail merge, etc. It's called Office Integrator and was first positioned to take the role of mail merge that OfficeVision had.
