Unless you plan on running a completely turnkey system, you'll need some custom programs. You can do queries and the like using a standard SQL client, but you don't get RPG on a non-iSeries machine, and there's nothing better for writing business applications. You also get WDSC for free, which is worth the price of any other full-blown IDE. Joe
