Off the top of my head; Field plus puts a positive indicator on the number you typed, just like the field minus key would make the number a minus. Field exit does not put a positive indicator on the number, but puts a neutral indication instead, that is assumed to be positive. The last nibble of the field containing the number has the positive or negative indication in it.
