Mike,
MPG has the tools to dig into the system and find out what the issue is. I
have seen it work in customer sights and save them lots of time. One
customer was ready to spend a great deal of money for a system upgrade and
by using MPG's Performance Navigator they pinpointed the user and job that
was causing problems. Turns out there was a bug in an application which when
fixed allowed them to wait another 6 months to upgrade. It is worth a look.
I do not sell the product. I will either get you in touch with them or a
partner in your area. Please feel free to e-mail me or call me.

The cache battery is fine - I have a job that monitors for CPP messages. It
runs out the problem is "application related" - ODBC jobs hammering on the
machine.

Actually some of this stuff does end up in the OS in some form. IIRC, the
DSPF command used to be part of this or some other utility download. It is
now part of the system. But then I could be completely mixes up here. ;-)

Jerry,

It depends. The JOBD parm for ADDJOBSCDE command has *USRPRF or a named
JOBD. If you name one, you get that JOBD, if you don't you get the one
attached to the User Profile. You can schedule for the current user (you)
or another user if you have enough authority. Then that user's JOBD or the
named JOBD will be used, depending on the way you create the job scheduled
entry.

"...So it may not be a bad thing..."

I wonder. Wouldn't big users (ATT, IBM, MS) be able to pay such a premium
that SMBs would have a hard time trying to get a good service?

Also, one of the big points about the web is its "same access for all"
principle, which makes it a very democratic tool. What happens if a big
provider objects to a particular web site content? Would it have so very low
priority as being unusable? This opens a whole new pandora box.

My 0.2 cents...

Luis Rodriguez
