I recall attempting the merger of thin client with Windows
products on the famed IBM thin client. What a goat rodeo.

The folks couldn't use half the equipment half the time
because we were busy downloading PTF's for the 400 side,
or the client side or the pc server side. What a mess.

I nevr got the entire thing to work correctly unless we
just used 5250 emulation and nothing else. The win server
would throw up at the slightest touch of the keyboard.

Besides,
the desktop users still needed various pc products. It would take a very skillful
win technical group to make this work right for the variety of users.
I have seen it work for select users who only needed terminal access to the
iSeries.
