Tandy, There is name I have not heard in years -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ingvaldson, Scott Sent: Friday, April 28, 2006 10:59 AM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: The Perpetual Myth of iSeries Obsolescence The interface to a modern Corvette is still a gas pedal and a steering wheel, just like it was in 1954. I would argue that the flaw is in allowing others to claim that this comparison is not valid. Cosmetically a new i5 looks as much like a B20 as a modern Dell looks like a 1989 Tandy 5000 MC. http://www.buildorbuy.org/tandy89.html If your Corvette came with night-vision goggles and a joystick would you refuse to use them? The Corvettes and Mustangs, unlike the System i, have changed appearances. Sure you can recognize the legacy Corvette look, in the modern Corvettes. But you'd never mistake a 2006 Corvette for 1967. On the System i, however the green screen looks the same as it always has. Sure, you've got ops-nav and web based interfaces. But for way, way to may, the only familiar interface to the System i is the green screen. Charles Wilt
