However, today I am perfectly happy to do my work from home PC, without getting dressed, without paying $ 3.00 a gallon to fuel my car, can take a break when I please to watch a favorite TV show. I have to come into the office to feed the printer, distribute some reports, access some stuff not yet on the network, and when the boss asks me to come into the office.
I think it is just great that a sales rep can be at a customer site, with a laptop connected to wireless to VPN to the office, with alternative phone connection to Internet to VPN if no wireless there ... a question comes up at the customer site, that our rep not have in human memory, and our rep can rapidly get an answer from our system, assuming the rep is well trained to use our software interfaces. Ditto any other kind of representative we might have occasion to send to a customer site.
I have rarely seen our lap top reps with printers attached, outside at the office, but with the proper training, they can fairly rapidly get a green bar report attached to an e-mail, while they are on the road away from the office.
