Came out at the tail end of V5R2 primarily as an upgrade path to V5R3. 
Really came out strong on V5R3.  Basically you can load new releases, 
cumes, other ptf's, etc, into an image catalog and not have to worry about 
changing CD's during the actual upgrade itself.
Directions to use are normally in cume ptf cover letters or software 
upgrades in Infocenter.  These instructions are very close.
