Try this, even from the local i5 command line
ftp myi5
userid
password
?
Cursor to ftp subcommands. Press enter. See DELete?

Help DELETE Subcommand - Help

DELETE (Delete a File on a Remote System)

Use the DELETE subcommand to delete a member of a database file, a
QDLS document, or file on a remote system. The DELETE subcommand
    format is as follows:

    DELete remotefile

DELete You can abbreviate subcommands to the most unique series
                of characters.

remotefile The file to be deleted on the remote system.

The remote system may prompt you for authorization to delete a file.
Use the ACCT subcommand to respond to that request.
