I applied 10 Mickeysoft updates  via Windows Update today and 
operations console direct (V5R4) has not worked since.

I just saw on the comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc newsgroup that a 
Thomas Hauber has the same problem and he's on V5R3.


I removed the following Mickeysoft updates and now Ops con works:

KB917953
KB916281
KB917736
KB911280
KB914389
KB917734
KB911562

So evidently one of these was the culprit.
