One experience with cache batteries makes me careful about replacing them.

We had one that needed to be replaced so we put in a service call. For some 
reason the CE didn't shut the machine down normally he simply forced the power 
off. Whatever was in cache memory did not get written to disk so we ended up 
with several damaged objects, requiring us to reload them from tape.

So my only warning is make sure you power the machine down normally before you 
replace the battery.
