James, Super short version (I'm writing up a much more useful long version): I'm very familiar with PCL data streams, but not Postscript (yet). However, I can see where some good service program routines would make your technique pretty easy to use or even to retrofit to an existing application. My main question is how easy is it to insert a graphic using Postscript? I'm assuming I'd need to reformat the jpgs into something else, which instead of doing on the fly, may be better off done in batch much like how you'd create APF page segments. (For my purposes I'm looking at thumbnails of products, so storing an already converted image and just inserting the appropriate data stream contents would surely be much less overhead over the life of the SKU.) In PCL, I'd convert it to raster graphics and optionally apply some compression such as RLE. What does Postscript use for images in its data stream? Doug
