*TMPSPACE stands for "Temporary Space" on disk. Sometimes the O/S doesn't
relinquish it back to the system.

Are you up to date on your PTFs: ie. cum-packs, HIPERs, and Temporary Diskspace
recommendations?

I am having disk space problems. I ran RTVDISKINF and see that my
  *TMPSPACE has doubled to 3.7G.

  What is *TMPSPACE?
