Sorry about the reply to my own post, but I hit "Enter" before finishing. The article I mention describes a Linux-based tool called dnotify, which watches a directory and executes a script when something within it changes. I use it to do exactly what you were asking. I have my users drop a file into an "upload" share on our Samba server. Dnotify detects the file and then calls a script which sends it to the AS/400 and then spawns a job on the AS/400 to process the file. It works great and the users really like it. Barry
