I bet that would work. I imagine there is a Linux or AIX version of
VMWare
</snip>

There is no way I am aware of to put VMWare on an iSeries at this time. (I
have tried several times) The problem is not the version of VMWare, the
problem is in the integration code for running Linux/Windows on an iSCSI
or HSL/RIO loop. The support is just not there. Running VMWare in a
partition would be a bit redundant would it not?

The best way to eliminate the IXS/IXA constraint is to use iSCSI. It
works very well, although it is a bit more complicated to set up and is
significantly more flexible that IXA/IXS.

Watch IBM and VMWare for announcements in this space. There is a stated
intention to make the iSCSI integration capable of using ESX, but there is
no support at this time. Maybe soon.
