Sandy: You can have the tapes degaussed or the cartridges destroyed. If you google "computer tape destruction" you can find a bunch of vendors that can help you. Some can roll a truck to your site; others can pick up and provide you with documentation. Personally, I tell the tape that I absolutely need to restore something from it, and it magically decides that it can't be read from again ;) Phil Ashe NetIQ (A division of Attachmate) 1233 West Loop South, Suite 1800 | Houston, TX 77027 USA 713.418.5279 phone phil.ashe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.netiq.com -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sandra Lynn Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2006 11:02 AM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Old 3570 Tapes Hi! Just curious what people do with old (no longer needed) media tapes. I have a ton of 3570 tapes I need to 'get rid of'....does anyone know of proper procedures when it comes to the disposal of old data tapes from a Corporation POV? Happy Thursday- Sandy
