I couldn't even GIVE away old 1/4" tapes at a users group meeting.

Boils down to the old "All inventory is evil" concept.  Soon as you 
obsolete something you need to get it ready to sell so that you can at 
least get a nickel on the dollar versus having to pay someone to dispose 
of it.  Although I work with a couple of good ole boys who wouldn't mind 
taking them out to the target range.  And, for truly making sure the data 
is erased, that might not be a bad idea.

Operations gal here must have more time than I do at home.  She took the 
1/4" cartridges, tore them apart, and recycled the metal off of the back. 
A greenie, she is not.
