Rob,Until people actually use Sound Off for server/platform "issues", the time is not wasted when everyone talks about the name change. People were passionate about it, so they talked about it. You could ask the same question here, but it would not work. Midrange-L and SoundOff...er.. TownHall .. are places for some constructive criticism, some posturing and lots of whining.
Besides, isn't any press good press?? All the noise about the name is ultimately attracting attention to the platform.. for the most part. Whether or not we can change the vernacular and call it by the name IBM (yeah, the vendor) calls it, is simply a matter of time. Whining about the name is just teething, and it too, shall pass.
I say, get with the program - call it by its NAME, not its HISTORY, and we will be able to move forward.
Or, call it by its HISTORY and remain stuck there - green and getting moldier by the century...

Along that vein, I would encourage people NOT to waste all of Sound Off's time ranting on why, or why not, a name change is a good idea. If you're not going to listen to the umpteen other people who've already said the same thing, why should people listen to you? Rob Berendt
