Hi Robert, There's an easier way to do this, by using Overlays (I've heard the Term "Templates" in other environments). You will need PSF and an IPDS/AFP compatible printer. You can then use this Windows Printer Driver to create the overlay: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/dlsearch.wss?rs=95&apar=exclude&q=afp+driver+psd1*&dc=D430 Upload the file to your System i, use the CRTOVL command to create your Overlay, and attach the Overlay to your spool file (d'oh, don't know how to that.) This has an additional advantage that you print much more than your logo, like some fancy linings and some such. And it's not as complicated to setup as other solutions. If you want to get your HP Printer IPDS ready, use a hardware solution like i-data boxes, or a software solution like excelliprint. Hope this helps, Lukas -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Robert Munday Sent: Mon 9/11/2006 4:59 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Printing Logos Inside An OS/400 Spool File This was sent to me by a programmer with whom I have previously worked. Can we help? Robert Munday Munday Software Consultants Montgomery, AL on assignment in Dublin, OH -----Original Message----- I need to print a logo at the top of a normal spool file created on the i5. Now, the logo will need to be stored as a font in the memory of the local HP printer. So I will have to -- Prior to sending the actual spool file -- 1) Install the PCL font in the printer by sending a Font ID command to the printer 2) Copy the font to the printer 3) Make the font permanent Now I can use the font and the printer will print the logo image. So inside of the spool file I will need to -- 1) Send it control codes to tell the printer to begin using the font (which is really the logo image) 2) Then send it the specific character ID's that are equivalent to the font 3) Switch back to the default font 4) Print the remaining text of the spool file Has anyone done anything remotely similar to this? I have Googled this task and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone has some books or specific recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.
