Then you can create a virtual tape, much like the older virtual optical only with much enhancements. Then they can use the DUPTAP command from real to virtual back to a different real. Or, have them talk to their local CE and see if some nice local company has their tape drive and another tape drive. Back when we used to have 4 or 5 different models on one lpar we did this for a few people. Gratuities help. :-) Caution: Do not send a 2XL company logo shirt as a gratuity without knowing the size of the recipient. :-( Rob Berendt -- Group Dekko Services, LLC Dept 01.073 PO Box 2000 Dock 108 6928N 400E Kendallville, IN 46755 http://www.dekko.com "Fred Horvat" <horvat@xxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 09/19/2006 12:08 PM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To "'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion'" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Duplicating a Tape Hello, I have a client on a 170 running V5R1 that they would like to make a duplicate a tape. Their iSeries only has one tape drive so the DUPTAP command is out. Short of restoring all the data and resaving it to another tape is there an easier solution? There are about 1,500+ files on the tape so this process would take a bit of effort.
