Doug, I am pretty sure that Net.Data is *not* supported on any other platforms any more. Mike E. On 9/21/06, Hart, Doug <Doug.Hart@xxxxxxx> wrote:
IBM's net.data does run on other platforms but it's not supported as well as on the iSeries. I have only used it on iSeries so in your case it would be running behind your firewall. Net.data only needs the Apachee HTTP (or older IBM HTTP) server running, not Tomcat or WebSphere. You can play with some net.data samples on my site. http://dhart.no-ip.info/ndmac/netdata.htm Note: this is not MS .net. -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Shannon O'Donnell Sent: Thu 9/21/2006 1:51 PM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Subject: RE: Run a program on iSeries from the web Can you provide more detail on how you use net.data? Where does net.data run? In the inside the dmz iseries? I have very little control over what can run on the tomcat server outside the dmz. I'm open to net.data, maybe, if i knew more about it. -----Original Message----- From: "Hart, Doug"<Doug.Hart@xxxxxxx> Sent: 9/21/06 12:04:41 PM To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion"<midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: Run a program on iSeries from the web I do this all the time with net.data and it's free. No Java just stright calls to commands, CLP, or RPG. -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Shannon O'Donnell Sent: Thu 9/21/2006 12:26 PM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Subject: Run a program on iSeries from the web What, in everyone's opinion, are some of the ootiins available to have a web app (browser) run a command on iSeries. The Tomcat server that front ends the web app uses java servlets and is on a PC outside the dmz. (i think). The iseries has no idea it exists. However, the iseries can ping the outside world so communication is possible. Would I do best by running Tomcat on my iSeries and have the Tomcat server on the windows pc outside the dmz send a servlet request to my iseries? Or is there a better way? All opinions are most welcome.
