The PTF installation instructions that come with HIPERs, Cumes, etc., 
covers this.  I never ran under v5r2, but both v5r1 and v5r3 work the 
same way.  After running the GO PTF command and running the "Install 
PTF" option (#8 in v5r3) one of the options is to prompt for media; '2' 
is the v5r3 option to install multiple groups, Cumes, etc.  The 
confusing thing (to me) the first time I did it this way was that, at 
the end of each group, a message was issued to insert the next group.  
After taking (I think) a 'G', it asked me to load the next CD.  Just 
kind of confusing at first; now I'm used to the redundancy.


I don't know what the recommendation is, but a fella I trust said to 
just load everything at one whack; the PTF process, he said, would sort 
out everything including any supersedes.  I got so far behind in some 
groups awhile back that I loaded 20+ CD's (can't remember how many 
groups that was) in one pass (which is why I'm moving to image 
catalogues on the next iteration). 


Another thing: I'm no swami at PTF's.  The first thing I do, though, is 
read the special instruction cover letters.  Plus I check the latest 
Defective PTFs list and try to figure out if these apply to me.  If they 
do, I omit them during the install process.


I always read the PSP document that comes with the PTF package.  It has 
all of the instructions and reminders in it.
