Don't get me started on these guys. When I first started as a junior
programmer/analyst I foolishly agreed to try one of the ribbons these
phone guys tried to sell. He sent like 5 cases of cheap useless ribbons
that I tried to send back. We got a bill for over $200 and he cussed me
out when I tried to send them back!! Learned a valuable lesson back
then.

Speaking of ribbon sales folks, MAN they used to be a pain about 10 or
15
years ago "We got the highest yield ribbons blah, blah, blah" and I said
"Sorry, not interested and happy with our current supplier". And he
comes
back with "But what if we can save you money, don't you want to save
money?"
and I said "No". "Doesn't your company want to save money" "No". And
dead
silence.

We were of course interested in good deals from REPUTABLE vendors.

Never bothered me, Jeff. I had a ribbon vendor call and call
and call... Even after telling him not to call. One day,
after he identified himself, I just hung up. Wouldn't you
know that 2 minutes later he called back. "Mr. Adams, you
hung up on me!" "Yep," I said, "and I'm doing it again."
Can't remember him ever calling again.

That's funny!

When those companies call, I usually say "I'm sorry, but we have no
interest. Thank you." right over whatever they're saying and then hang
up.
Half the time, they're still talking.
