40 years ago or so, my dad was in charge of the equipment department for a huge construction company. At Christmas time, he would get gifts from the vendors, ranging from pen and pencil sets to TV's. After we had 3 TV's, my dad started donating the good stuff to charity. He finally told the vendors that he had 4 growing sons, and if they wanted to send a gift, send food. The next year the deliverymen started showing up with boxes of steaks, Harry & David fruit baskets, etc. The most interesting gifts were the boxes of lobster and shrimp frozen in blocks of ice. My mom had to make a fast trip to Sears to buy a freezer for all that stuff. Of course, us young 'uns were not complaining one bit.
