I can't say for sure but if the Ethernet port is part of an FSIOP then is can only be used as part of the FSIOP and not as a separate Ethernet adapter used directly by the 720.

Is that what you are trying to configure, another Ethernet port that will carry traffic for the 720? Or are you trying to fire up the FSIOP and use the Ethernet ports on that?

Is there are trick to configuring it We want to connect this tank to our network but keep getting a message Vary on failed with reason Code 0000200E "Protocol conflict between IOA and line description ETHTCP"
We haven't used this machine in a couple of years and my
recollection was that it was working at one time.
But my memory is not as good as it was two years ago!

When comparing the Controller, Line and Device descriptions
with our 520 (2838 Ethernet Port) it appears to be the same
(obviously with the 520 and V5R3 there are some different
parameters)

Subject: Re: Any idea what Feature card 6506 or 6510 is

Feature 6506 is the old FSIOP and 6510 is the 10 mb ethernet
port that is part of it. We have one on our Model 720 but it hasn't been used in years.

I have an OLD Model 500 with V4R5

There is a card in it labeled 6506 and the slot next to it
has 6510 stamped on it

The two cards are connected together and only the 6506 has
the blue tabs for removing the card

My hardware maintenance guy does not know what 6510 is and
says it is not listed in his IBM book

It does have what appears to be an RJ45 jack in it.

Any ideas what this card is called?

Thanks
