Alfred, Is it _likely_ that the RRN will change? No. At least not from the time you read it using the multi-field key to the time you update it using the RRN. However, I would _never_ recommend using RRN to do updates. RRN is a artifact of a bygone era, and barring some very rare performance issues RRN should never be used. Multi-field keys, while annoying for web/windows programmers, are the standard on the System i, and I'd strongly recommend using the "correct" key to access the row(s). -Walden
