SNTP servers are set to UTC (Greenwich Time), and the time zone setting (QUTCOFFSET) is used to handle changes for daylight saving time. The servers don't adjust their time settings.
I believe you are correct that SNTP servers will not change when we "fall back" this weekend. My understanding is that the Time Zone (QTIMZON) system value (rather than QUTCOFFSET) controls time processing after V5R2. In fact, if I understand properly, there are going to be some PTF's to install before the "spring forward" next year to handle the DST changes for next year. AT V5R2 and prior, DST changes had to be done manually, although there are readily available utilities to take care of it. I used this one to take care of it until I upgraded to a V5R3 box last fall. http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200103/msg01740.html Ken Sims has more detail ... http://www.kensims.net/iseries/faqs/dst-change.shtml Take care.
