I assume you are sending your entire SQL statement from your .NET
program to the i5 and awaiting results.  If this is true, I suggest
moving your SQL to stored procedures in a library on the i5 and call
those stored procedures.   I've done it in .ASP with good results using
the older ADO provider; haven't tried it yet with .NET and the new .NET
provider.
