Walden, How could you possibly check that it's a valid GUID? All the GUID is is a 16 byte number, right? Conceivably, everything from x'00000000000000000000000000000000' to x'FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF' is valid. I'm thinking the right type is a char(16) for bit data, but then I need to do the translation from the Guid to the byte array myself. Char(36) lets me just store the guid, but there's no checking that it's a valid guid. -Walden -- Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
