but I still don't get it: is my calculation correct or do I have to know
something miraculous to get the numbers I need ? In other words, I can't divide that single POWER5 processor like I
thought ?
What is the math behind that ? The Redbook for VPM only talks about a 2 CPU system and gives 1 CPU to a secondary partition with Linux, allowing the first LPAR with i5-OS to get the whole processor power of 2 CPUs when running in uncapped mode. I can't even go to uncapped mode, because my system is "not able" to ! Sigh, Philipp
Hello Philipp, You can divide a Power5/5+ processor in tenths som the smallest partition will have 0.1 processor A "whole" Power5/5+ processor is roughly 3000-3800CPW. Some of the smaller i5 520 does not have one processor capacity - in your case just 0.32 processor. According to your own formula that will give you the posibillity to create three partitions. Makes sense? Regards Stefan Tageson Informatikk Sverige AB Propellergatan 1, SE-211 19 Malmö, Sweden Cell : +46 (0) 732 36 99 34 stefan.tageson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
