I did this several times, using image catalogs.

I didn't run into any special problems, i just ran through the manual,
doing things be the books. Worked fine.

There's the service agent from V5R2 which you have to delete manually
(if you use DLTLICPGM, you will hose the service agent from V5R4).

There's the usual stuff about verifying that you have no
hardware/software in use which is no longer included into V5R4, like ATM
cards or similar things. There's manuals from IBM for this too.

Best practice is to do this on a test system first, noting eventual
issues.

(We have some PPP/CHAP Auth issues with bintec routers, which we use for
remote maintenance)

Subject: Going from 5.2 to 5.4...

Well, it looks like we're finally going to upgrade our 10 5.2 Systems. I
know there has been a LOT of discussion on the forum about upgrades...
Instead of doing MAJOR wading through all this, can someone point to the
most cogent discussion about what is required to go from 2 to 4,
skipping 3??

Thanks,

Dave
