1. Not sure if it'd do an orderly shutdown or simply thermal-check and
lock up.  It does have thermal sensors, though, and should be able to
take some action.

2. Physical destruction is not a hardware maintenance issue.  This is an
insurance issue.  All corporate assets should be insured appropriately;
talk to your internal risk management group. 

If you have an IBM hardware maintenance contract, the SLA will be stated
in the contract.  Normally you get an approximate 4 or so hour max
response time.  However, that doesn't mean the problem will be fixed,
just that you get someone on-site or on the phone.


And if you're looking for a cache battery for a 2780 RAID card, your
response time is about a month.  Right now there supposedly aren't any
in the entire US and none are expected until at least March 1.
