Hi Everyone,

One of my customers has a physical file with multiple members, and they would like to create a view based on one of those members. Although the manual doesn't say it, it appears that this is not possible:

- I tried creating an alias for the member, but get error SQL7030 when trying to create the view over the alias.

- I tried creating a logical file on just that member, but get error SQL7010 when trying to create the view over the logical file.

As far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to copy the member to a separate physical file and create the view over that. However, this does not exactly provide real time updates of the view. Luckily for me, they only need it refreshed once a day; however I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before, and if so, what their solution was. The only one I can think of that doesn't involve changes to a lot of programs, is to have a trigger on the original physical file updating the copy of the single member in the other physical file. Seems like a real kludge. Do any of you have any other suggestions?
