I had an issue recently where a user tried to access a file via odbc and I 
couldn't find his ip address to figure out who it was.  I wonder if this could 
have provided that info.  
 
I couldn't use netstat because qinter had been reset and this odbc connection 
is a common one and only 1 usrprf is assigned to it.  
 
That'd b/a good use of this if it kept a history of stats.

What does IBM director do exactly?  What does it monitor, what's the
benefit of running it?  Is it free?

My boss is pretty enamoured with it.  Uses it to monitor i5's, PC
servers, 
etc.
