You can try (assuming you have a connection already)

Dim SqlSelectText as String

SqlSelectText = "SELECT current_cost FROM LIBRARY.FILE WHERE
item_number=" &"'"& Me.Cells(x,y).Value & "'"

Or

SqlSelectText = "SELECT current_cost FROM LIBRARY.FILE WHERE
item_number=" &"'"& Trim(Me.Cells(x,y).Value) & "'"

Then

Rs.Open(SqlSelectText),conn

Subject: Excel Query to i5

I have an excel spreadsheet that has a list of part numbers and the user
would like to retrieve the current_cost from the item_master on the i5.
I've tried tried this numerous ways, and while it seems to make the
connection, I can't figure out how to specify on the where clause to
lookup
based on the excel row/column. Is this even possible, and has anybody
else
done it?

Thanks,
